Shrimp 101
After work today I put my kayak in by the house I am currently working on. The house is located on the Intercoastal Waterway between Mt Pleasant and Sullivan's Island. The tide was very low this afternoon. I started off in about 1-2 feet of water. There were several times throughout the paddle that the bottom of the boat was hitting and I had to put up the rudder just to get through. Why Shrimp 101 you ask? Well, shrimp season is just over the horizon and I had to start training shrimp how to jump into my boat. There were shrimp all over the place. Thousands of little shrimp jumping out of the water. They were attacking me. Kamikazes! Several landed in the boat and many were jumping into me. I even saw a couple jumping over the bow of the boat. It was like the Shrimp Olympics.

You know it won't be like that during shrimp season. They are just teasing.

I see the makings of a roadside attraction... The Shrimp Circus.
