TB Assay

Well today I had to take tests and get pricked to see if I have tuberculosis. That's most of the excitement wrapped into one sentence. The tests were for a hospital I should be working in soon. I have to do all kinds of stuff to be able to work there. I was given two large notebooks this morning and a pad of paper with probably 300 questions I had to answer. I don't think I retained much of anything, I just answered questions for several hours. Apparently I'll get to do this annually. Once I was through the first notebook, I found the answer key. That's one heck of a place to store that. Being the honest person I am and figuring that I may actually learn something by continuing without free answers, I didn't look at them. Now I just need my CPR certification and I can go push some buttons on a machine in the OR of a new hospital.

I remember having the TB tests when I worked in a hospital. Those really suck. Nurses usually have to have two done, I guess for redundancy, so we've only got it half as bad.

That wasn't as bad as the "back screen" test they gave me to quantify the number of pounds of weight I could safely lift. I think the requirement for my position (IT lackey) was 50 pounds. I think I probably couldn't have lifted 10 pounds after that test. Ouch!
