Trivial Tuesday #7
week 7:
1. The long search for the latest Bond Girl is now over. Who was chosen?
2. Three new, studio quality Guns N'Roses tracks were recently leaked to the internet. What is frontman Axl Rose's birth name?
3. This is only recent for those who went to Fort Sumter this weekend. What day did General Beauregard order his men to fire on the Union held Fort Sumter and how many men were killed during this attack?
4. Beginning March 9, AOL will charge the same fee for both their broadband and dial-up services. When did America Online begin it's service for windows users?
5. The Olympics in Turin, Italy have only a few days left. Where are the Summer Games in two years, and the Winter in four?

4. (AOL = America Online, not American) - I looked this up in wikipedia to verify, but knew it was in 1993. In September 1993, AOL let their users get on Usenet, beginning what is now referred to as The September That Never Ended. This refers to the flood of new, obnoxious users that came with the new class of college students each year, and the newbies who'd not yet learned online ettiquite. AOL broke the floodgates in 1993 and some say they will never be closed. According to a fun script I have, today is September 4557, 1993.
5. For summer it's China in '08 then London in '12. Winter I had to look up.

Oops..I was half asleep when doing this and made many typos.
Usenet must have come with the release of AOL 1.5, which I believe was when they opened up the www with a web browser. I was one of those AOLers from back in the day, but I've never been active on any usenet group.
The Olympics are in London in 2012, but it's the summer games. The winter games are in 2010.

The next Winter Olympics are in Vancouver - I only know this because when I was watching the Olympics last night they kept referencing the next winter Olympics in Vancouver. This is the first Winter Olympics I've really watched a lot of and I've really enjoyed it.

I've always preferred the winter games over the summer myself. Minus the skating, I think most all the competitions are more fun to watch. I've watched more curling this year than I have ever..I've only caught one hockey game. Track & Field and gymnastics really don't do it for me. Cycling is the only thing I can think of that I really like these days in the summer games. Volleyball isn't bad..

Yep, I meant to say that since I had to look up the winter games, I wasn't answering (leaving it for someone who actually knew the answer).
The curling we watched was pretty fun, and I think we almost worked out the rules. I'd only seen about 5-10 minutes of curling before this year.

I've tried not to read the other comments before posting...
3. April something, 1861. No men were killed, only an officer's horse.
4. Not sure, but I'm fairly certain that Hell's gates opened simultaneously. ;)
5. Beijing (very nice architecture going up, especially the pool buildings), Vancouver (which I only remember because the X-Files were filmed there for several seasons).
