Da Room
This is not what I wanted to see after just buying a tempered glass top desk for my expensive (yet thankfully fairly light) LCD monitor to rest on. I already had concerns for my 17" CRT that is on the new desk (luckily a different panel of glass), being held up by a small piece of metal and cheap screws.
Pictures of the freshly painted room will make it to the interweb as soon as I can complete a couple more sections of wall space. I need to order some pictures to fill the empty frames hanging on the wall--they don't even have fake family members to enjoy...
[geek starts here]
Due to my new desk having only one keyboard tray, I started using a program called Synergy so I could use one keyboard and mouse to easily control several computers. It's currently being used only for my [company] laptop and single desktop (it can be used cross platform for many computers), but I hope to add another desktop in the next 6-8 months. Each computer has to have it's own monitor, but through a network you are able to go from screen to screen with the mouse, as well as copy and paste between computers.

Kaboom
I have a few minutes between cases so I thought I'd actually write a blog entry rather than just trivia. I always think about writing something on (and usually only on) Tuesday's, but then I realize I have to do trivia. I've been staying fairly busy with house/dogsitting, pulling cables, setting up servers (well, connecting them), setting up workstations, blah blah blah--oh yeah, plus my actual job. Last week had to be one of the busiest even though I was only in hospitals 3 days of the week. In the three days I did about half of my monthly average of cases. Hopefully the month will finish out nicely.
As many of my readers know, I've been planning to paint my bedroom for a while (procrastination at it's best--I've had the paint chips since February). The plan is finally [mostly] complete in my head and with all the recent sidejobs I have the money to start. It will be a hard thing to do, but the dive wall is on it's way out and all walls will soon be a light gray. All I need to do now is buy the paint and a few accessories (new receptacles/covers and some shelves) at my local hardware store. My new desk went on sale this week after several months of me patiently waiting (it's not exactly what I wanted, but it's the best thing I've found--and it beats making it myself), so that's sitting on the living room floor waiting for the room to be painted.
Ok, that's as far as I got between cases at 8 something in the morning..with no chance to post. Since then the laser has blown up..well died at least. I'm currently sitting in an OR waiting for a technician to get here from Hilton Head. What fun!
