Like a Llama or an Emu
I'm taking the writing prompt from Maryment about what I'd do if I had a million dollars. I'm going to go on the assumption that I need to spend it all (and on me), otherwise this wouldn't be much fun. In reality I'd probably pay off my debt, my mother's debt, and my sister's tuition. I'd donate some to certain organizations/causes. The rest would go towards a house (not a dream house, mind you--that'd eat up more than a million by itself in this town) and savings/retirement funds. I might even try flipping a house if I still had some money leftover.
What would I buy if I had a million dollars to spend on me..
- A relatively small house in Mt Pleasant - let's unrealistically guess ~$250,000
- Upgrades to the house (because for a $250k house, it'll need it)/tools to do the work/all Bosch appliances ~$65,000
- Boston Whaler 320 Outrage Center Console (although I'd have to shop around..I don't know much about boats) ~$175,000
- Nice car (likely BMW) ~$75,000
- A couple few months traveling the globe, with a friend or two-total guess at ~$70,000
That leaves me with about $305,000 which I'm sure I would squander on audio/video equipment for the theater room (plus lots of movies to enjoy), a few computers with terabytes of storage, parts for the Jeep, stuff for kayaking and other outdoor activities, digital video camera...(click on 'the list' to the left...)
On a side note, since most people reading this don't have a million dollars, Target has the Firefly series on sale this week for $18.99 and Serenity for $10. Go buy them if you don't have them!

Picture Friday

The new desk
My new room is getting there. Pictured are: freshly painted walls, new desk, recently framed diploma (took as long to frame it as I spent earning it), Bowden Bowl print to match diploma, new pictures (although I need to order some 5x7's for 3 of the frames pictured), black receptacles, mostly hidden wires, stock in glass cleaner (well that's on the list of items needed), two cable lines into the room. Oh, and the wall to the right in the picture used to be red..
The rest of the room is at various stages of completion. Some parts will be incomplete until I get more power tools (table saw, planer, and possible router for a new HRC shotglass display). Others will stay incomplete until either I have an epiphany or someone gives me a good idea. So don't expect any more pictures soon..although I am close to purchasing some of the tools.
