I Was Attacked!
At work today I was bit by a big ferocious snake. Well. Not really. But it kind of looks like it. I, for the first time since I became a carpenter, shot my finger with an air gun. Right before lunch, no less. I shot myself with a staple so there's actually two holes. I should consider myself lucky though. It could have been a 2.5 inch nail, or worse, a 3 inch framing nail. Now those would hurt. This wasn't too bad. At most it went a quarter of an inch in. It felt like it hit the bone, but I seem to be ok. It's just sore now.
The funny thing is that I am always telling people to move their hands further away from where they are nailing. Nails have a tendency to hit the grain of the wood wrong (or another nail) and pop out the side (I've even seen them do a u-turn and come back out right next to where you shot it.) I was just moving along, nailing up some paneling. My hand was too close and the staple went through the paneling and out the side of the stud behind it. Right into my middle finger.
I'm excited about tomorrow. I get to go to the dentist, followed by the DMV. Lucky me. The good thing is that I will not be going to Seabrook. No work for me tomorrow. I'm going to try to go kayaking, depending on the weather. I'm sure I'll keep you updated. I can't say too much now..or else I won't have anything to say tomorrow.
