To PSP or not to PSP

Sony is coming out with a handheld gaming system this week. Until today, I didn't think that it really even sounded like something I'd want. I've since found that you can put digital video onto the memory stick duo and watch it on the go. Which means that I could record tv shows on my computer and take them to work to watch while I sit in the OR and wait for my cases to begin. That would be cool. Plus, I could play games and mp3's..seeming how that's it's original purpose. I sat around for more than an hour today waiting for things to get rolling because of OR delays. Wouldn't I be the dork carrying a cellphone, Blackberry (more to come on that once I get it), and a Sony PSP on my hip. Wait..wouldn't I be more of a dork. :) So anyways, it could be cool to have one..but they aren't cheap. I'm thinking a PS3 or a widescreen tv for my PS3 would be money better spent (as if I had money to spend..ha). Maybe I should take up reading. That would be cheaper. Especially if I went to that place where they rent out books for free. (Don't count on that btw.)

There's always audiobooks and music on an mp3 player. That's the route I went over a gaming system for my boring time between classes. Since then I got into podcasting, mostly into the shows formatted like audio blogs. My MuVo is 256mb, of which about 50mb is usually filled with music and the rest with my daily or weekly audio entertainment.

Audible.com has tons of books and most don't cost much, plus there are still some free audio books out there. I listened to The DaVinci Code during my first week of school. It was pretty good, and much better than the old dead tree versions. :)

But if you decide to get a PSP, it would be best if you could find a friend working somewhere with a liberal employee discount policy. Best Buy used to be 10% over cost. My friend who works at CompUSA said that the "cost" amount for the PSP is $145, so that's his price. If BB still has the same deal, it would be $150 for an employee.

That's assuming you can find one when they come out. I expect a long delay before we mortals can find one within 400 miles for even retail price.

I wouldn't mind having one, but they're a bit pricey right now. Besides, there's been no mention of Gran Turismo coming to the PSP, yet. :)

Well... some mention.

Now how did that manage to sneak under my radar? Besides, if by the time it's released, we'll probably be on the PSP2. Also, looking down the list of release dates for PSP games, I noticed one called Sticky Balls...
