Take Pride in a Road?
Who takes pride in a road..or a shopping center..or a bridge? (besides the people involved in making them) It really erks me when I read articles in the newspaper where politicians are constantly telling me that I should have pride in the new West Ashley traffic circle. Or..I should take pride in the new Cooper River Bridge. Granted some of these things might be cool, but I don't take pride in them. Maybe it's just in the way that I define pride. Which is most like the first one and a half definitions given by [Dictionary.com]. From the definition, I feel that pride is based on achievements. You take pride in something personal..something you actually accomplished. I've been very proud of most things that I have done/constructed in my trim job. I'll admit I haven't taken pride in everything :). I guess politicians like to use the 'pride in association' aspect. I guess because I live in Charleston I should take pride in the public transportation efforts. I suppose it reflects where I live. How does that reflect me though?
Ok, this was a poorly formed rant..sorry for that..
